Being on IRC for several years now, I'd surely like to see an ispCP channel, a dedicated IRC server would overdo it though.
And in my humble opinion usually only the minority of forum users uses the search, so it's not like a channel would cause that much more help requests. And even for the typical questions there are things like bots with quickhelp texts (I'm giving support for some other software project on IRC and quickhelp triggers work quite well for us).
Either way an IRC channel only makes sense I've the developers regularly join it, so it's up to the dev team.
there is a chan on quakenet ... I'm Operator in it, but there is no one most of the time (no L yet).
If quakenet is used don't expect me to join it. I've had problems with them (service operators).

I don't know if it's possible to have on in oftc.org, ... if it isn't possible, freenode is a good option
I think the best option is freenode, a Dedicated server will cost too much time.
While a single channel is preferable, even multiple networks could be used with the help of relay bots.
we have to discuss this in team. If there is an official IRC channel it's owned by the admins of this project. There is no reason for anyone else to register a chan, it will not be accepted.
We can supplie an TeamSpeak server if any one are into this !!
