I have lately alot of lag and 500 error pages on the site. Around 8 till 12 GMT +! i even acn't qacces the forum and trac system at all. Also getting alot of databse errors.
Dunno if it just me, or that the server is buggy.
The Server has to handle to many requests. It's a global Problem that has to be solved! I've contacted Malte, but no response yet.
Yeah - i know about the problem.
But I'm away from my office right now - returning tomorrow evening.
Apache overloads somehow. I dunno why right now.
I've made a quick change to my config and changed to fcgid instead of mod_fastcgi that helps a bit - but fcgid does not really kill idle php-cgi's (although its properly configured).
I'm on the way setting up a new & faster server - but thats not the solution - it's just throwing server after it

.
It seems also to depend a bit on the buggy python templating engine the trac is using (it has a memory footstep of ~350Mb in apache) .
I hope i can solve it finally in the next days.
Maybe we should add support for fcgid for 1.0. A lot of people is having a lot of troubles with fastcgi. I'll change the ticket's milestone right now
Trac has been crashing on me very often. Everytime I try to view a release it crashed. I'm not sure if I am the one responsible for that large memory footprint or not
Raphael, I think it is wise to add fcgid support option just to be safe. Lots of people already complained about this, and it might damage ispCP's reputation if we ship the panel as is for 1.0 and it is laggy.
True, especially small server have problems with fastcgi, now i got a X2 3800 1GB box, and have no problems related to fastcgi, but on a smaller box (p3 700mhz, 512MB) i got often high memory problems and 500 errors..
Uwhm, It is'nt true that smaller servers have only the 500 problem. My Intel P4 3000+ 2cpu's with 1gb ram, have the same problem...

and maybe some ppl should readjust their plugins

Anyone of the fcgid gurus got an idea why its not killing idle php's ?
And just btw. documentation for fcgid - extra parameters is not existent
^^mod_fastcgi was better documented
Code:
<IfModule mod_fcgid.c>
SocketPath /var/lib/apache2/fcgid/sock
IPCConnectTimeout 20
BusyTimeout 300
IPCCommTimeout 120
DefaultMinClassProcessCount 1
ProcessLifeTime 300
AddHandler php-fastcgi .php
<Location /php/php.fcgi>
SetHandler fcgid-script
Options +ExecCGI
</Location>
...
</IfModule>
