Disk quotas don't include mail? - robbo007 - 05-19-2011 05:00 PM

Hello all,
I've setup a disk limit of 1GB for a user but it seems if they use IMAP to collect their mail and leave it on the server the disk limit is not respected.

Is there a way to limit mail that is stored on the server for users? Would be good to have another quota for mailboxes in the control panel

Thanks,
Rob

It's not that disk quotas don't include e-mail, but that only FTP is really enforcing the quotas (try to upload something through ftp and you'll see).

The real problem here is that stock postfix doesn't support any kind of quota. Therefore, there are two options to enable quota support:

1. Install dovecot
2. Patch postfix with the VDA patch.

Both options have been discused before in this forum, so use google to find the howtos....

Great thanks, will investigate.

Someone ought to delete the spam garbage, like the commercial junk in this thread.
